Changing the Backup Battery of a EZ-Flash 3 in 1
At some point you will find that your GBA games or other software reliant on the "SRam" of the 3in1 does not work. In most cases its simply the case of the backup battery is dead.
This is a guide on how to fix this!
You will be needing
Depending if you buy a Pre-Tabbed battery or not
Open up your cartridge and slide it to open it, it will only slide on one side to expose the board
This is a guide on how to fix this!
You will be needing
- Small Philips head screwdriver
- A CR1220 3v Battery
Depending if you buy a Pre-Tabbed battery or not
- Pre-Tabbed - Soldering Iron
- Not Tabbed - Tape (Electrical Tape is best but scotch tape works too)
- Flat tool you can use to break the tabs
Open up your cartridge and slide it to open it, it will only slide on one side to expose the board
If your using a Pre-Tabbed Battery: Simply unsolder the old battery and solder in the new one. Reassemble and your done!
If your not using a Pre-Tabbed Battery: Take your flat tool (knife, flat screwdriver, pry tool ect ect) and CAREFULLY ease at the 2 spots of the tab on the battery you will need to get the screwdriver under the tab.
Have a little patence and take it slowly do it, it will come free, then repeat on the underside of the battery.
Once you have the battery free get a bit of tabe and put it under the bottom tab then push the bottom tab into the tape to make it stick then place the battery on top of it Positive side UP and bend the top tab on top of the battery.
Fold the rest of the tape ontop of the battery and cut away any excess. it should look a little like this:

Cut any excess tape at the end (like I have here and cut after the picture) and close up your cartridge! Battery replacement is complete!
If it continues not to save then you have a SRAM fault and your out of luck but this is not that common.

Casing Change
Not much to tell I changed a standard piano black DS Lite into this Red Dragon designed one with the rest of the shell Matt rather than gloss.
You may have also noticed by the owners choice I added an extended battery (as it uses a flash card that eats the normal DS Lite battery for breakfast) which actually over doubled the life!
