It had 2 faults I had to fix on the laptop mind you but nothing I couldn't get cheap, a new system fan and a new keyboard unit which I got easy.
So after that was done my attention turned to the possibility of upgrading this laptop some as well as mods. So as the link above I looked and it told me I could go up to 3GB of Ram, So I was like OK, fair enough and invested in 2 new DIMM's of ram a 2GB and 1GB. to which I found worked OK. however I then noticed this Model Here.
You will Notice its a Better Version CPU, More Ram sold with it and Larger Hard Drive, But if you look closer it also stated that one could take the maximum of 4GB. So a little time went on and I upgraded the CPU to a QL-66 (the 2.2GHz version) although I Plan to upgrade again to a Turion Ultra, and well I started having issues with the 1GB DIMM of ram I had and thought to myself well, I'm going to have to replace it so might as well see if HP was lying about the max ram on this thing... and they was >.> what I cannot understand is why they lied about the max ram it could take on there site when they use the same motherboard across ALL of there AMD based G60's. They also told me on the phone too that the AMD Based G60 cannot use SATA 300 Hard Drives at SATA 300 Speeds... well the HDD that came with the machine was rather small and picked up a few bad sectors and on a stroke of additional luck scored a Scorpio Black 500GB to replace it (see earlier in my blog) and what do you know... it fully supports SATA 300 Speeds no problem. Its not like I don't know why the lie its to get you to pay more for a better model or upgrade again but still dislike the dishonesty in it.... and don't get me started on the poor cooling design of HP Laptops I've modded mine so much I refer to it personally as the "HP G60 Kouen Edition" at this point but that's a story for another blog post, Thanks for reading my minor rant and I hope you all have a nice day!
