Fixing Classic / Color Games Resetting SP
One issue I had come across recently with my own Gameboy Advance SP was the fact when playing my classic games such as Super Mario land 2: 6 Golden Coins sometimes for no apparent reason my console would just reset itself.
Through trial and error I found that the battery was still good and the power switch was working well too. Upon opening it however I found the weak link in the system for non advance games that happen over time.

There is a cut out notch in the GBA games that does not exist on the classic games as you will see in the image above.
Please Note: You WILL need a "Tri-Wing" screwdriver to do this fix. This is easy to get on eBay.
Inside the SP is a lever like unit that gets pushed when a classic game is inserted into the SP which sets it into Classic Mode over time however it gets worn out.

The Image above shows the part in question there is a movable tab there, how I fixed the issue was to take a Dremel (Rotary) tool and grind a bit of the tab away, not too much 0.5 mm worth this stops the lever getting into the same problematic area that causes the reset and should work fine for years to come! You can possibly use a knife or other tool but please be careful not to damage the motherboard doing this!
Once I reassembled my SP my classic games never reset anymore and the SP works as reliably as ever!
