It would seem our new post office is full of lazy cunts as well as posten in general making sure my packages go as slow as humanly possible, I Have been waiting for the parts to fix my Pokemon Edition DSLite for 3 weeks now and there is no end in sight of my waiting. Recently they closed down our normal post office in favour of a "Post in shop" thing which is an even longer trip to collect stuff then the old one but this new one is the worst post point I think I've ever seen.

My first time there they LOST someone's package ahead of me...

Now I have 2 packages coming in one has already arrived there and been scanned in however even that one took far longer than it should have, However my other package with the shit I have been waiting for seems to have vanished of the face of the earth and I'm about ready to punch a Posten worker in the damn face... Some may say contact there hotline! there less useful than a chocolate saucepan they just tell you what you could see on the website and refuse to do anything more... which is what they did when they lost a whole NETBOOK being sent to me

On top of that, Apple customer care is known to be very good.... except I have seemed to pull the idiot.
For a time I didn't have my own Norway bank card and as such couldn't use it on my Apple ID So I used my girlfriends, well since then I got my own card for Norway and thought id transfer it to my name... Changing the Billing address however had a small problem... they wont let me change "Miss" to "Mr" but changing the full name is fine...

So I contact support and they tell me how to change my billing address which I already tried but cant edit the one detail I used so I told em that and for some reason he must have derped as he then said oh add your card to the system it will be fine -.- no it wont the bank will not take it as it will check the billing address and see the Miss that should be Mr but I did it anyway,,,, and as I expected it declines my card due to that fact so I have wrote a angry email stating for the 3rd time now what is the issue going as far as to attach a image highlighting the "Miss" and having 3 arrows pointing towards it... Knowing my luck today he will still "miss" the point...

And to cap it all off... my mouse is acting up jittering all over the place for no damned reason (Microsoft Wireless 1000) causing me to actually get frustrated enough to throw it across the room...]]>
<![CDATA[Evasi0n 1.4, iOS 6.1.2 and You!]]>Thu, 21 Feb 2013 15:19:37 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2013/02/evasi0n-14-ios-612-and-you.htmlPicture
The new version of iOS has arrived and while it does not block Evasi0n from Jailbreaking your iDevice I have noticed it has a nasty side effect at least on my 2 iPhone’s, The iPhone 3GS 16GB and iPhone 4 16G

Both times trying to upgrade to iOS 6.1.2 it has caused the iPhone to have to be restored to factory default. While this normally goes without saying I am putting this out there to drive it home for this update especially.

BACK UP YOUR APPS AND DATA!

Both my 3GS and 4 failed to update and had to be restored to factory default (3GS took 2 attempts to restore but could have been the cable I used) and I had to restore my data from there.

Once that is done however Jailbreaking it again is all fine and same procedure as always!

<![CDATA[New things happening]]>Thu, 06 Dec 2012 18:51:22 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/12/new-things-happening.htmlSorry people there has not been more updates, my life has been a bit of a roller coaster and not all of it good I'm afraid. But alas I'm still alive and well and have some stuff that needs to be sorted before posting.

New tech has been and will be coming in! One of my friends (Imperial Productions on YouTube) is sending me a Packard Bell MB88 limited edition laptop that is in need of a little work! This is going to be a amusing project as the fault is mostly the Nvidia 8600m GS GPU which is giving the typical signs of death that most Nvidia 8xxx GPU's get.

Another item incoming comes from another friend ("Dylan The Analog Man" on YouTube) a iPod touch 3rd generation which the digitiser needs attention so expect some posts about that!

Another item that was recently given to me is an iPhone 4! Unfortunately however it's locked to a network I do not use (Tele2) so expect news on that when its unlocked.

Well that's all for now thanks to my friends who are passing me stuff!]]>
<![CDATA[Guild Wars 2]]>Sun, 23 Sep 2012 16:50:57 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/09/guild-wars-2.htmlOK, many of you know that I have been rather annoyed at NCSoft for the poor treatment myself and my partner have been given by there customer services.

We have had our accounts locked and banned for no reason, items go missing and there customer service is on par with EA when you talk to them. So many was shocked to see me boot up Guild Wars 2 and here is more regarding this.

Originally I had planned to boycott NCSoft published games for the future due to the very very poor treatment and kept that mindset even after Guild Wars 2's release what changed my mind was a video by Jim Sterling on the escapist. To cut the long video short why boycott the publisher it won't send the right message and they will instead blame the developer thinking they failed! But instead why not buy it and bitch n moan leading to bad pr for the publisher as pr matters to them more and will send the more correct message.

So with that in mind I'm now playing Guild Wars 2... A Charr Hunter to be exact

<![CDATA[Got To Grips With iOS]]>Wed, 19 Sep 2012 20:38:26 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/09/got-to-grips-with-ios.htmlBeen messing with this iOS device for a few days now and getting to grips with it, so I'll start to draft up some articles for reading on this iPhone!

In other news I had hoped to bring you a repair guide or some stuff on the htc diamond 2 but the screen that arrived from China was DOA and a new unit sent out for me.
As for palm I'm also waiting on that from a friend in the us and since its a lower priority device im not as worried, patience is a virtue and since a friend is gonna fire it my way outta his own pocket I'm not about to bite the hand that feeds me

That's about it really

<![CDATA[Another Day, Another Phone Fixed!]]>Tue, 18 Sep 2012 10:39:45 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/09/another-day-another-phone-fixed.htmlIndeed, as the title says today I finished up another phone repair!

In this case it is a Nokia 7360 which is a bit older and not a Smartphone but in this case its intended use was for my girlfriends young daughter! I Had to do a few things to this one
The casing needed replacing as the front was scratched, the chrome was peeling off and the phone had no back cover, the phone also had some antenna issues causing it to drop network.

After taking it apart, checking all the contacts on the motherboard and cleaning them up with some rubbing alcohol I then opened and gave the antenna itself a clean up and that fixed that issue, then I put on a cheap new Chinese clone of the original casing to make it look like new!

Followed that up with a Pay as you go (prepay) sim card and a charger and she is ready to go.

Now she will be able to call her mom or dad in an emergency any time! and the best thing is if she somehow breaks it the whole repair and restoration cost only £3!

Caroline, Enjoy your new phone ^^,

<![CDATA[iPhone fixed and rolling!]]>Mon, 17 Sep 2012 07:12:05 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/09/iphone-fixed-and-rolling.htmlAfter messing with the 3GS that Swifty generously sent me I got to work on getting it all sorted for my use!

First I jailbroke the handset, needed to bypass the simlock followed by installing the iPad baseband so it will pick up signal since the handset was locked down to AT&T

After doing that I noticed I had some issues still these was...
the fact that Phone Signal, Wifi and the Dock connector would randomly drop and reconnect.

So I opened it up in the correct and safe mannor (I may post a article about all this so ill skip over the gritty details) and checked the 2 connectors by popping them out and putting em back in, the antenna one was nice and tight but the dock connector cable came out without any effort. So the issue was a loose connector, the Dock Connector controls

 • Wifi Antenna
 • Phone Antenna
 • Loud Speaker
 • Mic
 • Dock Connector
 • GPS Antenna

Although due to the fact I installed the iPad baseband the GPS was disabled so I just turned off location services in the iPhone menu all together this prevents other random drops when the iPhone tries to look for a GPS satalite.

and here it is a nice full signal bar!
3G mode still doesn't work however... Think that's my Phone network though, since even though technically I am not it thinks I am always "roaming".

But Edge/GPRS mode saves power and I like that so I am not fussed if 3G doesn't work at all but I will look into fixing it, like I say thinking that's a local phone network issue rather than device issue.

UPDATE: The new network fixed all 3G connection issues! as you will see below (I'm also aware it still says "N Telenor" but this network uses the Telenor Network to operate but without acting like its always roaming!)

<![CDATA[Just a "Thanks" shout out]]>Mon, 03 Sep 2012 05:43:26 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/09/september-03rd-2012.htmlThought I would just take the time to write somewhere about a few friends and how grateful I am to them!

Over the past few months anyone that knows me a bit more personally will know that I have been having many bouts of depression, While I will not go into details about why here (Sorry to some degree I am a private person) Its not been a very good situation in which I have had some emotional punishment to the point at some points I had stopped eating for many days on end and at one point thought about suicide.

All my friends who still contact me just to chat and see how I am, Thank you very much and while I will post here a few names its early in the morning and I've not had my coffee yet, and even then there is always someone I will forget. If your name is not here but we been chatting as friends then you are being thanked!

Biggest shout outs go to

* JFswift: always seems to be there for me Just when I need him even taking the time to mail me a present or 2 to keep my spirits up (Thankies for the 3GS!)

*Lasharus: For always being there to talk, and being such a good friend

* Trezu: Always popping up for a chat and trying to keep me amused

* Charismatic_Wolf: Always asking if I want to play despite the fact that I've only got my laptop

* Grady Wilson: Thanks man, You don’t realise it but you make my help I give people feel worth something!

* Philjo: Thanks dude for being a safety net and always being there

For those who come chat with me you are being thanked too, But other than the fact it would take me a while to type it, I'll always miss someone out xD

Thanks

<![CDATA[WTF SEGA (Sonic Adventure DX -Dreamcast Collection Rant)]]>Thu, 05 Jul 2012 07:49:37 GMThttp://www.kouenstechcorner.com/1/post/2012/07/wtf-sega-sonic-adventure-dx-dreamcast-collection-rant.htmlDreamcast Collection Version of Sonic Adventure DX

 • OS: Windows® XP
 • Processor: 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4
 • Memory: 2GB RAM
 • Graphics: DirectX 9.0c compatible, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 series, ATI Radeon™ X1600 Video Card with 256MB RAM
 • DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
 • Hard Drive: 1.8GB Hard Drive space
 • Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible Sound Card

Original Port

 • OS: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
 • Processor: Pentium III 600MHz Processor
 • Memory: 128MB RAM
 • Graphics: 16MB Direct3D compatible Video Card
 • DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
 • Hard Drive: 700MB Hard Disk Space
 • Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible Sound Card

So Let me get this right

Somehow this new port which is less functional (doesn’t have widescreen support and options do not work there is no mandatory AA or such or any enhancements) requires…

 • 2.4GHz more CPU Speed
 • 1.9GB more RAM
 • And at least a 200% Faster GPU Itself

Wait, what?

The Dreamcast Collection Edition of the game is really bad, its like they decided to re-port the game to PC ignoring the original port but never optimised it in the least or even got it running correctly… was they like “ok it runs on pc now that’s it we are done here!” I fall through the world, loose all textures and the game crashes very often on me! The original port while still flawed somewhat with the bugs of the original release did not add even more! Even the options cannot work without issue on the DCC Release!

On the very same machine with the same settings the DCC version runs at 17-25FPS mostly when in levels…. Original Release I cant get to go below 60FPS

It’s worth noting that SEGA has yet to fix anything to do with this mess as of yet
